Excepting for our Bare Sole Trek, we now work exclusively for Australian Desert Expeditions on their scientific & ecological survey in the Simpson Desert, Queensland and South Australia.
Through ADE, our camels represent one of the last living links to the golden days of exploration by camel in Australia, as we are the only camel tour operator in the country that actively and continually explores all of the continents great deserts without restricting ourselves to one area.
We consider the Simpson Desert to be 'home' but in the past we have explored the Great Victoria Desert in South Australia, the Gibson, Great Sandy and Little Sandy Desert's in Western Australia. In western Queensland and the northeast of South Australia we have operated treks that combine the desert dunes with the extensive waterholes of the Diamantina River and Eyre Creek.
In the 1980's and 1990's we conducted extensive treks in the Sturt Stony Desert including along Cooper Creek, and have trekked past the Dig Tree near Innamincka, on our way south across the Strzelecki Desert and the Northern Flinders Ranges. With ADE, we are currently working in the remote areas of the larger major deserts, so are unlikely to visit these 'desert fringe' areas again in the near future.
