Life on a typical Western Simpson Desert Trek
These three photographs were taken on Yancannia Station in Western New South Wales. At that time, Yancannia was owned by the Shaw family who then sold the property to 'Cattle King' Sidney Kidman in 1916. The three photos (depicting two different occasions) show a camel string hauling a wagon loaded with firewood through the floodwaters of Yancannia Creek in 1916.
